Hi
My Son's school has right-minded been through an OFSTED inspection and regarded the inspectors as aloof, arrogant and as he said.. 'they didn't know how to talk to us dad'.. He feels that his teachers are marvellous, so how come he felt that all the attributes that made his teachers great didn't belong to the people who are apparently elevate surpass than them and guiding them?

It would assistant to know your son's age and maturity. Do you feel he is competent to inspect the inspectors? He might be. Children can be very perceptive.
As a teacher, I abominate inspections, because one senses the same aloofness your son reports. However, they are in a school for a comparatively short time and have a very specific focus to their toil.
It is unwise for anyone who may need to give negative feedback to be to "chummy" and approachable. My school had an "leftover" set of outcomes, but throughout, the inspection team maintained a "professional distance".
Inspectors are not "superior" than teachers, anymore than auditors are better than accountants. Some members of the team may never have taught (lay-inspectors). They are not there to "inspiration", but to measure a school against a set standard. If they find shortcomings, they don't "guide" the improvement - that's up to the school.
Wait for the description. It might confirm your son's view of the School.

It raises the big problem of whether or not the inspectors are any more competent than the people they are supposed to be inspecting. However, I suppose the inspectors are supposed to be inspecting how the teachers interact with the children, which might make plain why they remain aloof.
