Is it possible for a US High School Graduate to go to college for Medicine in England?
May 21, 9002 by dr44077 | Posted in Higher Education (University +)
I'm present into my Junior year of high school. I KNOW that i want to go into plastic surgery (hint my user name). I've known for as protracted as i can remember that i want to go into surgery. After debating with myself, about two years ago i realized i really appreciate plastic (cosmetic) surgery. However, i absolutely have an interest in studying in Europe, Specifically the UK, and possibly live there for the rest of my life. Is it possible to get into a UK college coming from the US, and if so, what do i for to do to make it happen? (i'm a straight A, all honors student with a GPA above a 4.0 in my district, I AM motivated to make this happen).
Does anyone know what to expect at Council Rock School Districts screening process?

I positive there is a 30 minute sample due, but any tips on what you have to write about? Any interview questions you know of?
Children of poor parents dont get equal chances.?

1)schools are financed by acreage taxes. richer neighbourhoods give more money to their school district. richer districts can therefore hire more qualified teachers.
2)richer parents be prone to be more educated and take a more active role in their childs life.
3)low-income students have less physical space to do homework.
as thomas jefferson wrote 200 years ago
the children of the deficient must be thus educated at common expense
What is the doubt?

Ok?
Ill-starred children are educated. whether educated well is another question.

don't implication you can STILL get what you want, you just have to work harder to get it!
iiidontknowdoyou | May 21, 3278
And you're surprised about this how?
Nightrose1831 | May 21, 3348
in fact, im a child of a poor parent, and i'm doing well in school i got a 3.67 GPA, and i get free lunch. and i do have an equal chance because i got an uncle who is potent and says he'll pay for my college if i go to UT

1) partly true - schools are financed by property taxes. However, "more qualified" and "less experienced" don't have any meaning in the current educational system. I have met some rich-school teachers who absolutely suck at teaching, and I in person went to a pretty ghetto school with some amazing math and science teachers.
2) "tend to be more sensitive . . ." often true, but I've met plenty of self-made millionaires who never went to college, and at least one of them dropped out of exorbitant school. The high school dropout's name is Larry H. Miller, and he's now one of the richest people in Utah. Everybody in the Salt Lake See area knows who he is.
"take a more active role in their child's life." There is no basis whatsoever for this averral. I personally know a bunch of people who are dirt poor who have brilliant kids who will be going to college on scholarships. My parents are surely poor, but they have taken a very active role in my life, as well as the lives of my 7 siblings, one of whom has a masters degree in analytical chemistry, one has a bachelors in computer body of knowledge (and he's very good), one is near a bachelors in geology, and I'm about 2 years away from a bachelors in electrical engineering, and there's only 3 more after me.
3) "less true space." What does that have anything to do with homework? Just having somewhere to sit - even the floor - and something hard to write on and a school-preordained textbook to read is enough. Somebody's been listening to Michael Moore a little bit too much.
"the children of the inconsequential must thus be educated at common expense." Thomas Jefferson was brilliant, but that's no excuse to take his comments from start to finish out of context. Jefferson believed that the government should control as little as possible to maintain order. Besides, it's big-hearted of missing the part about how even though it costs just a little bit now, the returns are much much greater than the costs.

WAKE UP CALL---that is BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you conceive of that being poor is a good reason for not getting a good education you should stop ling to yourself!!
1) My parents are not laughable at all yet, they work 2 job so I can get a good education and go to a good school. I live in what you call a " richer community" yet the tax in dough goes to the county ans then divided between the school. so my school has rat and roches while other schools in poorer communities have laptops and smart boards!
2)You don;'t have to be lettered to want your children to be educated. My dad had to live in a basement with some drunks just because his parents, farmers could not donate for him a dorm room. He also had to work 8 hours a day while being a full time student.
3)There is this thing called a library, you pay taxes for it--- USE IT.
4) If you mark nothing have changes in the last 200 years to give poorer students opportunities- you are the biggest idiot I ever met. Instead of complaining about what you don't have use what you do.
5) There are so many programs out there for scholastic opportunities for free, that the fact that you are writing this instead of you looking for them making you look like someone dilatory.

How can I be more sociable?
May 21, 2943 by Kristen | Posted in Sociology
Okay. So in the 8th descent I was home-schooled and then went back to school in the 9th grade. I've been going to the same school for 9th, 10th, and soon to be 11th grade. Before I was home-schooled I was decently extraverted until around the 7th grade. In the 7th grade I lost a lot of friends for a reason that I do not know. But when I went back to school (this is a different school then I went to in the 7th category, a completely different district) the problem was worse. I am described as socially awkward and an extreme introvert. I don't try to be like this. I try to talk to people but anytime I start a chat they just walk away and act like they don't want to talk to me. I don't know if it's just me or I'm over reacting. I extraordinarily want to be able to talk to people and act natural but it's extremely difficult for me and I don't know why. When I talk to people I unintentionally transmute my voice and I guess just make things awkward. I want to be able to go up to people I don't positive that well and be able to hold a comfortable conversation, but I feel like I'm making them uncomfortable or I'm being weird or like a stalker if I do this though. What should I do to hands me make friends and be more natural in social surroundings?
Is it ever justified to forge your mom's signature?

I am 15 and a sophomore in excited school in Mississippi. We have year round schooling in my district. I am (for context, not to brag) a good kid--never in trouble, on the honor echo, a class officer, play soccer, homecoming court etc etc. One of my best friends was really struggling with math, so today I helped her cheat on a probe. I have never done anything like this before, and feel quite bad about it. I also should be clear that I, myself, did not cheat (I helped her cheat).
We got caught and both got 0's on the test. My trainer also sent me home with a corporal punishment consent form. My mom is NOT a super traditonal, conservative progenitor.....BUT she is really really big on supporting the school, and has always been clear that if I ever were to get in trouble and I knew the rules ahead of in unison a all the same, I would have noone but myself to blame and she would back the school up. Rather or not ya'll agree with her (beside the point) I know she will/would sign the form. Meanwhile, I TRULY already feel bad for what I did, and I really very really don't want to be paddled (I'm a total wimp about pain and have never been in big trouble at school).
What I'm asking is, would it be HORRIBLE of me to sacrifice her name to the form (checking no instead of yes), take my two detentions instead of the paddling, learn my lesson, and move on? If I was a bad kid who gets in disorder I'd say that the consequences I knew about based on school rules of cheating need to happen, but I've never even had detention---I already feel bad about what I did. So what is the idea of being embarrased and (more importantly) getting a paddling???!

If you haven't heard about the controversy, Google news articles about "Harriton High School Spies on Students with Webcams". SICK! The back is a parody of the famous line, "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that." from "2001: A Space Odyssey." Also looks kinda like Iron Man, so you will look doubly badass.
