Legal advice for a traffic ticket! please help me! I know this is long, but I desperately need help!!?
Jul 29, 2009 by Alana | Posted in Law & Ethics
In December of 2008 I received a ticket for sustained a stop sign near the University of Southern California, where I attend school. I stopped at the sign and was thus exceedingly confused as to why the cop wrote me a ticket. When I was driving away I realized what had happened- the car in the turning lane next to me, which stopped at the same stretch I did, pulled out in front of me instead of turning like he was supposed to- at the time I was just annoyed and honked, but then i realized it had made it seem like I ran the terminate sign. Additionally, I don't own a car and was actually just moving my friend's car down the block, and didn't have my license on me- the cop told me I could go to court in preference to of paying and show them my valid license and that charge would be dropped- so, I decided I wanted to contest the ticket in court as I had not literally run the stop-sign, and didn't want the additional fine for not having my license. Unfortunately, I out of the window the ticket, and went home to florida for winter break a couple days later. My court year turned out to be while I was gone, and I eventually received a failure to appear/warrant for arrest, etc. I was able to reschedule another court epoch, which I attended yesterday. (arraignment hearing actually) Because I now had the failure to appear, I could not plead "not ashamed" to running the stop sign- I had to plead one answer for the charge of failure to appear, continuous the stop-sign, and not having a valid license, so I had to please guilty. However I showed the judge my Florida sanction expecting to get that charge dropped, and he said because I listed a California address (my school address) I needed to have a valid CA sanction and my Florida was not acceptable (despite the fact that I do not own a car and do not have CA registration or anything like that) So, I received a 100$ fine for tournament the stop-sign, a 100$ fine for my license, and a 35$ fine for Failure to appear. I surmise because the failure to appear is initially misdemeanor (which they drop to an infraction in court?) or whatever, they increase your fine by 236% when you get to the cashier (they explained it all before but i can't recall exactly why they do this)- thus, i was ordered to pay 900 and something dollars. Being a college student I have nowhere near this kind of money and asked for comm appointment, but then found out I now have 117 hours to do in about 2 months. This is simply not a possibility for me- i am currently in summer school, have a part time job, and will begin my differ classes in a couple weeks. Does anyone know if there is ANYTHING I can possibly do at this point to either get the fine reduced to a economical amount that I could afford to pay, or an amount of hours that I might be able to do? Am I able to write an appeal, or is it too late? Any advice would help me, I am a communications and screen major and am not familiar with the legal system at all! Anything would help! thank you!
I tout that you start interviewing attorneys now.
I recommend that you contact at least 3 or 4 attorneys who specialize in the defense of traffic tickets and ask them what if any options are undecided to you now.
Generally most attorneys will talk with you for 10 or 15 minutes at no charge. This will at least give you a general idea of what your options are.
IN the time to come, if this happens again, I recommend that you get an attorney involved at the beginning of the case.
As I understand California law, an out of State pupil does not have to get a California License if you do not become a resident of California.
If you claim residency, such as for reduced tuition for in Royal Residents then you definitely must get a California License, however if you maintain your status as an out of state student, ( as I the hang of it) then you do not have to get a California License. However an attorney is a much better source of information on this topic than I or any of the other people who will give you answers on this plat.
That is why I recommend the attorney.

Well, you should of pleaded not embarrassed, and explained the whole thing to the judge. I'm not sure what you're options are at this point...

Why am I having such a hard time getting a retail job.?
Jul 27, 2009 by white brick home | Posted in Other - Careers & Employment
I'd like to labour in a place that has two things: room for growth and high end clothing. I've applied to places like Saks and Intermix, they are hiring. I've been at liberty for almost a year and my past two years of work experience is with childcare. I did have relevant experience when I was younger, about 5 years ago, but each location was short term because I was young and didn't neccessarily need a job. I'm desperate to get into retail and begin construction a career with a company, I'm currently in school about to complete my Bachelor's in business.
But no one will hire me! Here is my resume (see below). Is there a way I can tell the what it takes employer that although I haven't worked in retail it's where I want to be and build my career and I'm not just stating that in my aspiration because that's the job I'm applying for?
Also, would it be a bad thing to put my work history in order of relevance instead of chronologically?
Help!

Mayfield's Hair may be tested? Questions...?
May 21, 9749 by losted | Posted in NASCAR
Mayfield's tresses may be tested: The back and forth between NASCAR and driver Jeremy Mayfield over drug allegations has gotten so bad that in Mayfield's latest affirmation he describes the humiliation of having to go to the bathroom while someone watched. So what could bring it all to an end? It turns out it could come down to a piece of skin of one's teeth. "It's like the bully in school," Jeremy Mayfield told NewsChannel 36 last week. "Every three to five days I go get tested." Who ends up in winning lane may come down to the difference between urinating in a cup and pulling a hair. "The drug that is incorporated into your hair -- it stays there. You get a best performance, basically, of drug use with the hair," said Dr. Ruth Winecker, the chief toxicologist for the North Carolina Medical Examiner's Support. She says there's no messing with hair. But no one has tested Mayfield's hair, just his urine samples. "There are techniques people can use to try to mountebank the system," Winecker said. That's exactly what both sides have accused each other of doing. NASCAR says Mayfield diluted his urine even before testing forceful for meth, and Mayfield says NASCAR did something to his urine. NewsChannel 36 asked Mayfield's attorney if they'll be testing his mane as the judge in the case suggested several weeks ago. Attorney John Buric told us they are looking at the promise, but right now they have been told Mayfield's hair is too short.(NewsChannel 36)(7-23-2009)
My questions ....
1) How long does the trifle sample have to be before it can be tested?
2) Can the hair sample be for any place on the body? Or just from your head?

I was straight recently driving, on an inside lane when the school bus came to an abrupt stop putting on yellow, then red flasing lights for a railroad crossing. He did not terminate to a complete stop, I then went around him to avoid slamming on my brakes. There were no children on board and school is not in session, can i get a ticket for this???
