Melatonin for special needs toddler.?

I have a 3 year old who will be starting preschool in September and isn't sleeping through the round-the-clock. Most of the time he is up for 4 or 5 hrs and then naps for 2 or 3. ALL DAY/NIGHT LONG.

He has a condition called ONH/SOD, he is blind (possibly a midget light perception) with several endocrine problems, and falls on the autism spectrum. Several of the moms in my support groups have suggested 1mg of melatonin. Right-minded a small dose to get him to stay asleep, not put him to sleep.

I haven't been able to get a hold of my son's Endocrinologist yet, and my keep quiet is against it until the dr oks it. (Easy for him to say, he doesn't have to get up and stay up with our son) I'm just wondering what some side effects or things to look out for are. I'd like to start him on a minor 300mcg dose and see how things go.

We have tried the full bedtime routine, bath, lotion, massage, log, lights out, etc. And he is back up a few hours later, if he fell asleep at all.

try camomile tea, My friends daughter is autisic and she mixes the tea with apple extract, or the tea with honey(just a little) and it really...really works...

camomile tea is a flower, not a tea leaf... and it logically soothes and aids sleep..

please try this, I even use it... its good stuff

PS: she makes a pitcher of it and keeps it in the frig... fill up it strong and then add the apple juice, good stuff....

Bless you... and yours

Hi, 1st melatonin is frank. I have a 5 year old that was going thru the same problems. I bought the 5 mg melatonin and cut it in half to kmake it a 2.5 mg and then crushed it in between 2 spoons into clout and would give it to her with her recommended dose of motrin liquid. I had to be sneaky with her! I did that for 30 days consistantly. You have to stay on it, or it wont occupation. After 30 days, I stopped the melatonin and motrin and she just was tired and ready for bed by 8 pm every night. It became part and she got used to it. She never had any side affects from either of them. Hope this helps.

can someone help me out with her stubbornness?

three year old daughter is prevailing to start preschool in about a month. She knows her ABC'S and her number's through 15 She knows lots of colors and lots of shapes. However She is soooo Recalcitrant about her colors and shapes.

She will tell us that and egg is an oval and that the bird she saw the other day had a black stripe or that something is yellow or green or whatever accommodate it was when she is telling US a story, but when WE ask HER what shape something is or what color something is, her response is always " I don't know" She will look at the attendant or item and pretend she has no idea.

She has always been stubborn with things, so we are used to that, but we're just curious if there is some way to make it more fun for her, get her out of one's mind about it, to the point where she wants to tell us instead of just playing her little "I don't know anything gutsy" Mainly we just want it to be fun for her.

We've tried a few things but so far the same results so I was thinking of some sort of event, it doesn't have to be one from a store, we already have some and I think she's bored with those so I was thinking of something made up and new for her, so any suggesstions or idea's, they don't even have to be about a game any suggesstions or expierences or warning would be great.
I don't care about her "preforming" I just want her to have fun with it. I don't want her to hate knowledge and it seems that it's boring to her or something.

Audio CD Children's Dance Songs?

Do you identify of any good cd's for preschool children that have dance/body movements attached to them. For example...the wiggles has this song where you 'do the simian, do the elephant, etc." And they also have one where you stretch, jump, clap, etc. I need a cd for kids that gets them moving.

How old was your child when you went back to work? Also any mommies that have gone back to school after baby?

Alright I'm philosophical of going back to school still. Even though I'm about to have a baby.

I'm thinking of starting back when the baby is a year old and maybe take evening classes. I'm still working on my associates step by step.

Anyways how did that work out for those of you who went back to school?

Also old was your baby when you went back to work?

I hope to not go back to work until our teenager is in preschool. I want to be with him as long as I can. I thought about going to work when he is 4 and doing preschool a few days a week.

But I fear I will quite have to go back way sooner. Maybe within the first year.

The baby isn't even born yet and I can't stand the idea of being away from him all day.

How harshly was it to adjust?

Thanks
I just don't want my baby to have such awful feelings toward me, as I do toward my mother.

My mother had me at 21 and was distinguish. She worked all night and went to school all day.

Then when she got her job she would work all the time.

I rarely saw my mom growing up and even after she got married she started working more. I saw my stepdad but never my mom. (Ofcourse she always said she worked so she wouldn't have to be at poorhouse)

And I just craved her attention and I always vowed I would be home with my kids until they start school and I'm scared that won't upon and they will end up feeling the same way about me that I feel about my mom
I just feel like if I work, I'll be miserable and I won't be the best mother I can be.

My stillness says we will try with me staying home.
The price of daycare is outrageous and it looks like what I would make would all go to daycare and wouldn't domestics anywhere else.
So it would still be like one income. (He's in adverstising so he is doing okay)
All I want is to be mom. I don't want a career. I justified want to take care of my child and I'm scared things won't work out that way

Can anyone recommend a Preschool/Daycare Curriculum I can use for my home daycare.?

Guys I really need your help on this one?

I have always intention modeling would be cool and I love fashion and everything about it. My sister is going to school to be a makeup artist and she got to do the makeup for these models for a on-going store. (The models were next to the old school bikes with the curly handlebars and they were in sundresses and stuff like that. It wasn't like hardcore like people in the outfits and helmets and compress.) And my sister told me that the photographer told my sister that he signed 4 of his makeup artists to elite and ford original management. So my sister told me if I ever get int modeling she could do my makeup and he would do the pictures for free. So if i ever became big or got in a magazine the people who I auditioned for and looked at my portfolio would see that he took my pictures. So it's like enterprise. Well either way I really want to model but my mom said not right now. (My sister got to go to modeling classes when she was younger and when the people gave her lists of auditions for magazines and swill she chickened out 1,000 dollars down the drain. I would actually stick to it.) Well my mom is a single mom with 4 kids well my sister is 26 and out of the undertaking my brother has been going to college at a community college for 2 years and is going to a college in the state so it's common to cost my dad a lot of money. Plus my other older brother is going to go to his first year of community college. So moolah is going to them. My sister did get to do modeling classes but I do travel softball and it costed 500 dollars this year. Not to suggest I have been in some type of sport or athletic thing since preschool. My mom is like "Your not going to do it this year because the moms of those exemplar kids don't have jobs they just run around driving them to auditions." All I want to do is go to the classes this year. When i think about about modeling it boggles my mind when I think about me doing modeling. I really want to do it. So guy if you know of any classes or auditions or ways to get my mom to let me do it please escape. I'm literally tearing up right now while righting this. I will give best answer so guys please help me.
No actually Tom A it's straight that my dad probbaly won't fork over the money becuase my brothers are in college. He is actually a boss at a company so you don't recognize.
