Are comic book collections recession proof?
Not right-minded extremely high end comic books, but somewhat valuable ones. Do you think that their value drops during a slump?

I don't suppose prices drop due to a recession. I think it is supply and demand. Look at what baseball cards did in the mid 90's, they tanked. They were in vogue in the 80's when the economy was poor and were worth 10 times more in the 80's then in the 90's.
My advice, rally them because you like them, not because they will being you money in the future. It will be more fun that way.

comic books are only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it
if you have a "$2000" comic book, but no one is willing to buy it for that price, it is NOT worth $2000
so with the concision the way it is, people are re-adjusting their budgets and deciding what truly is important, and what purchases can be eliminated
i don't think many people have regard for old comic books to be a necessity, thus making their value very diminished
however comic-con was a hit this week, so there still is a market. its just that people will be less consenting to shell out big bucks for a comic book these days

I'm a comic book accumulator, been collecting since I was like 12 yrs old.
I'm a fan of collecting 1st appearances of specific Superheros and Supervillains...I have acquired from head to toe a mass of 1st appearances, but I'm still searching for more and can't seem to know what I want (or I forget)
Can anyone help and give me a list of who's 1st appearances I should converge (and is worth collecting). It doesn't matter which publisher,
I love both Marvel and DC as well as others.

Free or cheap program to catalog a collection?
I am looking for a program to keep from me catalog a small but growing collection of books and comics. I would like to be able to keep the two separate if possible. I don't sense spending a little bit of money but free would be best.

Good, Large Graphic Novels?
I'm looking for something well-disposed of specific. I want to get a few graphic novels that are large and complete. I do not like buying small volumes at $10 each, and penury to get a complete story.
Something like Watchmen or Bone (really the only two I've ever read besides Erfworld, which is free online). I actually liked all of those comics and am looking for something similar.
I read the first volume of Y: the last man, and would love to buy the complete collection as one book, but apparently it doesn't survive yet. As I said, I refuse to buy comics in 40 page sections which take 30 minutes to read and cost way too much. I almost got the Walking Out Compendium Vol 1, but the Amazon vendor dropped my order and the price more than doubled everywhere else.
Anyway, I'm looking for initiative, adventure, fantasy etc. I really don't want standard superhero comics like Batman, etc. because I feel like I demand to know back-story.
I'm going to try Mouse Guard which looks cool, any other suggestions?

You sir are destroying the comic book Persistence. It's a dying form of entertainment, between the horrible economy and people like you stealing comics, the companies are booming to go bankrupt and we won't have any comic books anymore.
