How do I convert a Word document into an eBook?

Hi, would recognize any help, since everything I've searched on so far has proven to go off on tangents, becoe too technical, or wanted to flog me something!
I have a number of Dialogue 2007 documents that I want to convert into eBooks to read on my Sony eReader. So far I've been turning them into PDF's, but this is not immense as something doesn't work in the changeover and the spacing goes nuts - I end up with partially full pages occasionally interspersed with full ones.
Can anyone support me to figure out either how to turn my Word documents into Ebooks, or how to at least make my Word documents into more eReader-kind-hearted PDF files?

Thank you Kelly for your answer, but it doesn't seem to work. I don't seem to ahve the selection to 'Save as' and then 'eBook'. Is there an update I can get for that do you know (or anyone else?).

is na. first make a blank word doc. then make a block ebook doc.
you go into propoties (right click the file) and look for the .(take up here)
you simply change the .(enter file type) {thats a .(file type) or dot (enter order type)} to the ebook file type and it automaticly reformats it
heres an example.
the word document proporties say .chat
the ebook document proporties say .ebook
you simply go into the word doc and go to "file" then "save as" then tiptop your desktop or my documents or where ever you want it to go any you put the info below into the text bar
letters to the editor.ebook or wonder document.ebook
(the document name is just a mock up so you know what your doing. it can be what ever you want. all that matters is the file type is what ever it is for ebook.)
IMPORTANT!!!
all the order info on this is just random crap i make up to help you understand. non of it will actualy work in a interfile. its all just a random example so you still have to go into thew proporties and find out what the .(file type) is.
